The 2019 Monte del Frà Tenuta Lena di Mezzo Amarone della Valpolicella Classico opens with aromas of cherries in liqueur, plum and blackberry layered with notes of licorice, leather, tobacco and cocoa. On the palate it is full-bodied and velvety, combining concentrated dark fruit with smooth tannins and remarkable depth. Hints of black pepper, coffee and dark chocolate emerge through the long, warming finish, reflecting the traditional appassimento method and extended ageing in large oak casks. Pairs well with braised beef, game dishes, aged cheeses and rich Italian fare.
